The Secretary of State at YMCA Michigan Youth in Government is the Chief Election Officer and Chief Clerk throughout the conference. The SOS and their team is responsible for running everything to do with the Elections including the nominating convention, campaign speeches, certifying the ballot with the Elections Commission, running the voting precincts and counting the ballots. On top of running the elections, the SOS and their team helps ensure the clerks are prepared and tracking bills correctly to ensure the Legislature is able to present bills to the Youth Governor.
