Red Lt. Governors

Reet Singh

Cranbrook Kingswood High School

Why do you want to run for this position?

I have been committee chair all throughout high school (except last year), I've had middle school experience, and I feel like I need to break out of my shell and finally take a step up to run for this position.

What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office?

I have canvassed for Mari Manoogian (currently serving as State Representative for the 40th District in Michigan's House of Representatives) and Shadia Martini (ran for election to the Michigan House of Representatives to represent District 35). I have learned many things about voting, and I do plan on voting this year since I am eligible.

Pablo Villalvazo

Union High School

Why do you want to run for this position?

This is Pablo's 4th and last year in the Youth In Government Program. Since starting, Pablo has found extreme love in the structural procedures because it ensures that every voice, even the unpopular ones, can have a platform. Pablo will ensure that you have a environment to not only share your opinion, but to thrive socially. Let's send him back to Lansing, lets vote for Pablo.

What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office?

Prior to running for Lt. Governor, Pablo received the Outstanding Committee Chair Award-Blue, and was successful in passing his proposal and bill in both CONA and MYIG respectively. This is Pablo s fourth attempt in running for leadership. Losing a Speaker of The House race in 2018, he came the next year to run once more and won! Pablo also ran an unsuccessful Governor Campaign. We need proven leaders now more than ever. Let's send him back to Lansing, lets vote for Pablo.

Tyler Deibel

Saginaw Heritage High School

Why do you want to run for this position?

Last year I was the blue Lieutenant Governor and a committee chair and I absolutely loved the experience. The meetings I led moved quickly enough for people to not get bored, while still leaving time for everyone to say what they wanted. I proved last year that is totally feasible for people who are still learning to have the time of their lives at YIG, and now I want to show that I'm capable of moving something faster paced and more serious, like the sessions of the White Senate.

What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office?

I have participated, and had leadership positions, in many different clubs, and sports teams. I learned leadership skills through my years in Boy Scouts, garnered the ability to endure through hard things through hundreds of miles of running in cross country and track, and I've learned to always try my best and that hard work pays off, by making it onto my school's varsity swim and dives teams.

Why do you want to run for this position?

I think that I have a lot to offer to the YIG community and I would like to make everyone's year here at yig a good one none the less. I would like to give all the seniors a good last year and all the new people can learn how to run the meetings.

What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office?

I have been committee chair for the last 4 years. I like to volunteer with people who have addictions (which takes a lot of time and patience).

Dominic Woods

Ecorse High School

Why do you want to run for this position?

I want to run for this position because I believe it can allow me to set a positive example and serve as an inspiration for others. See, in our current world, many people hate being around others that are different from them. However, I love hearing from people that do not share the same views and goals as I do. As Speaker of the House, I would not only work to run meetings as effectively as possible; I would work to improve the relationships I have with other people that oppose my viewpoints, as well as help others do the same. Allowing all viewpoints to be shared and heard is and always will be my top priority, and I believe that this can happen if we work together. As Speaker, I know that we can do that, even though it may take some effort. This is because I have faith in our generation and I know that nothing has ever been achieved in this world without any sort of effort and determination put into it. For me personally, I love to stay positive, stay motivated, and work with others. Such traits are perfect for a Speaker of the House!

What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office?

I have been a house clerk, working for a House Speaker. I have also been elected and served as Speaker of the House before, meaning I have experience and a great understanding of the position. I am also the Student Council President and 2021 Class President for my school, showing that I am a proven leader.

I would like to run for this position for many reasons. One reason is, this will be my 5th year in YIG and it is one of the most fun experiences I have ever had, so I thought it would be fun to be a leader. Being Speaker was extremely fun and I had an amazing time and I would like to do that again.

I'm currently in five extra-curricular clubs and organizations, all of them relating to government and politics, with leadership experience in most of them. I love learning about the government and I'm a dedicated member of YIG.
