Cranbrook Kingswood High School Why do you want to run for this position? When I was first introduced to youth in government I was surprised to see so many teenagers passionate about politics and the issues around America. After my first conference, I wanted to leave a greater contribution and facilitate to fuel this enthusiasm. I have always been interested in politics and this position will not only allow me to better express my opinion and lead the discussion, but also provide a larger platform to learn about the different ideas that my peers hold. What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office? Last summer, I attended Columbia University's course on Contemporary debates on American Law and Society. I have greatly learned about policy-making as well as the controversial issues that surround America. This experience will aid me in leading the discussion and providing help. Furthermore, I also have previous experience in youth in government. |
Novi High School Why do you want to run for this position? I have always been interested in politics and government and I truly love seeing the political process unfold. I am not a subscriber to passive learning; I believe that, to learn, one must experience something first-hand. MYIG allows for this. Furthermore, I believe that my speaking ability and leadership experience will help me succeed. I hope to bring positivity and enthusiasm to the conference through this role. What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office? I have a strong grasp on parliamentary procedure as I was a committee chair in the MYIG conference. Also, I am a member of my city’s local youth council, where we use Robert’s Rules. I am a leader on the 11th District Youth Advisory Council (event planner), and am an officer of my debate team at school. As a member of my school's student council and captain of my basketball team, my leadership style has become one of communication and positivity. |

Coldwater High School Why do you want to run for this position? I want to run for Speaker of the House because I believe I have qualifying leadership skills for this position. What other activities have you done that make you qualified to run for office? I was Speaker of the House when I was in 7th grade and I ran but lost in 6th and 8th grade. In Middle School I was involved in Student Council. In 6th grade I was secretary, In 7th grade I was Vice President, and in 8th grade I was president. This year I am the President of the Class of 2024. |
