Words cannot begin to summarize my experience with Michigan Youth in Government. Through this great organization, I have met a phenomenal group of peers, both here and across the country. The diversity, be it of a racial, geographical, or ideological persuasion, that is present in MYIG does a great deal to strengthen the organization’s members; not just as politicians, but as tolerant and open-minded members of the society we share. YIG has singlehandedly set me on a path towards my future by immersing me in a dynamic program that embodies the essence of government, and the policies and procedures thereof. Before now, I could only dream of being Governor!

I truly admire how empowering MYIG is. As minors, it is easy to adopt a complacent attitude in regards to the surrounding world. However, YIG puts the power in the hands of the youth, making it apparent that we are very capable of shaping our present world, as well as our future.

I am undoubtedly proud to serve as governor of this great organization. My experience in YIG has done a great deal to shape the person that I am today. My greatest hope is that I continue to grow in the following year with Youth in Government, as I have been for the past three years, and the spectacular people that make this program what it is.
