Lydia grew up in Quincy, Michigan and is an alumni of the YMCA Youth in Government program. In 2005 Lydia was part of the team of alumni that assisted the staff in creating the YMCA MYIG Alumni Association. She was the first Public Relations Chair of the Alumni Board and later served as the Chairwoman.
Lydia has a Liberal Arts Degree from the University of Michigan. While in college Lydia volunteered with a number of different Non-profit organizations including volunteering at YMCA YIG conferences and serving on the Alumni Board. These experiences led her into a career in college recruiting and took her to Pennsylvania in 2009. Thanks to her time with the Alumni Association she had connections program in PA, so she continued to volunteer her time mentoring teens and helping more kids be part of the program. In 2011 she became the youngest and first female CEO of the State YMCA of Pennsylvania. As CEO she ran PA Youth & Government for almost five years.
In 2015 when Michigan began the national search for a new Executive Director she knew MYIG was calling her home. Lydia lives in Dexter with her husband Chris, daughter Sonja and pets Stark and Dora.
Adam grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan. While he was involved in extra curricular activates throughout high school MYIG was not offered at Grand Blanc. If it were offered he would have loved to be part of the Press Corps at the Spring Conferences.
Adam then attended Central Michigan University and majored in Human Resource Management. While at Central he was a part of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) where he was elected as the Active Membership Chair. His role was to organize networking events with students and local businesses. This is where he found that he really enjoyed event planning.
Before working for MYIG he worked for a YMCA camp called Camp Copneconic in Fenton, Michigan. He had many different roles at camp but his favorite position was being the High Adventure Coordinator. Within this role he had the opportunity to run the ziplines, high ropes and rock wall activities.
Adam is (unfortunately) a big Detroit sports fan. In his free time he enjoys staying active by playing flag football, softball and traveling. If you have any questions about the program feel free to email him at Adam@myig.org
