ALUMNI HOME

Michigan Youth in Government is a building block program for our youth today and our leaders of tomorrow. Students are given the opportunity to become members of the program as early as sixth grade. They have the option to stay involved as a member for seven years, from sixth grade to twelfth grade. When the student walks across the stage on graduation day, their learning with Michigan Youth in Government does not have to end. Michigan Youth in Government welcomes the students to the Alumni Association.

We ask all graduates to please become a part of the Michigan Youth in Government Alumni Association by submitting a registration. The Alumni Association is a critical leg of the Youth in Government program. The alumni help teach the students parliamentary procedure and help guide them through committee meetings, teaching them how to get a bill passed through the House and Senate and signed by the Governor. The alumni challenge the students in every aspect of the program. A significant role of the alumni is to provoke thoughtful discussions, help with bill creation, and encourage bill lobbying among the members of the program. They aid in the growth of each student’s leadership abilities under the four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

We ask all alumni to help promote participation in Michigan Youth in Government at their high schools, middle schools and neighboring schools. We encourage the alumni to ask their high schools to participate in Diversity Now, a diversity resolution giving participants an opportunity to learn about others.
